Plant health defence is carried out according to the principles of integrated control systems, which limit the use of chemical products by turning to biological and physical means instead. The choice of chemical substances depends on the evaluation of their effectiveness and their impact on the environment. Preference is always given to products with the lowest possible toxicity. Recently part of the firm's land has been converted to biological agriculture (EC-Reg. CEE2092/91).

Safeguarding the customers' health and protecting the environment are important aspects of the firm's activities. The reduction in the use on plants of chemical products, the treatment and recycling of water used for washing the vegetables and the search for environment-friendly packaging are just a few of the areas in which "PIOMBO" is involved daily in the order to maintain high standards and to guarantee healthy and carefully controlled produce.
