Associazione Semplice tra Produttori Agricoli "Piombo"

"PIOMBO" is a large firm of growers situated on the south-east coast of Sicily, in the province of Ragusa, specializing in the production of vegetables both in glasshouses and in the open field. The firm was founded in the 1950's and is well-known for the extreme care it has always taken in the growing and marketing of its produce. For this reason "PIOMBO" is today one of the most go-ahead firms in the horticultural sector.

There are over 1000 hectares of land, 920 of which are given over to open field vegetable production. There are 60 hectares of conventional cold glasshouses and 20 hectares of tensile structures. The latter provide innovative means of protection making use of all the advantages of plastic sheeting and nets for shade and against insects.

Crop planning and technical and agricultural know-how make it possible to grow vegetables all the year round and guarantee continuous supplies to customers. The main destinations for the vegetables are the wholesale markets and large-scale retail trade in Italy and the other countries in the European Union.
